MX3D Case Study
LRQA x MX3D – Additive Manufacturing Certification
Filmmaker / Director / Editor
This case study was produced for LRQA (formerly Lloyd’s Register) to showcase the certification of MX3D’s directed energy deposition (DED-Arc) facility in Amsterdam, incorporating the M1 Metal AM System. The qualification process covered feedstock, equipment, personnel, processes, and build control across multiple materials, in line with the LR-TWI “Guidance Notes for Additive Manufacturing Certification.”
My goal was to turn a highly technical topic—industrial certification and additive manufacturing standards—into an engaging, accessible story that clearly communicates why this certification matters. Through interviews, dynamic visuals, and a concise narrative structure, the film makes complex engineering concepts understandable and compelling, while highlighting how the certification allows MX3D’s customers to produce certified, high-quality metal components that meet industry standards.
My role:
- Concept development and story structuring
- On-location filming at MX3D’s Amsterdam facility
- Interview direction and cinematography
- Editing and color grading
- Delivery of cut-downs for client and social media use
